The Machete Archive | Photo Essay

Some would be skeptical of a show starting at 6 p.m., and on a Sunday no less. But stick Nick Semrad on keys with The Machete Archive, add Carrot Carrot and Woodsman (Denver), you get the best weekend wrap-up one could ask for.

Good thing the senior citizens of Lincoln didn't misconstrude this early show for a time to head downtown and gather with friends. Carrot Carrot and Woodsman performed great sets, each one setting up perfectly for the next act. However, once Machete took to the stage and Semrad placed  his fingers on those keys, it was on. Hearing aids would have been popping out left and right, pace makers exploding with the infinite depth at which this band grabs you.

I thought I saw a great show at Maha the previous day, but Semrad took Machete to a new level. With this being Semrad's last Lincoln performance (he's moving to the NYC) he held nothing back and it was apparent watching The Machete Archive close with X that these guys are beyond talented, they are gifted, and we should be so lucky that they co-exist right here in Lincoln.
