Take a few zombie sword battles, strawberry feedings, whipped cream engagements and red sludge girl-on-girl makeout sessions. Add two gorgeous geishas and talented DJs and you have yourself a good idea of what Harouki Zombi is like.

Our friends at Omahype sponsored the duo’s show Friday night, which started with a set compiled by Goo DJs Todd Fink and Jacob Thiele (two-thirds of Depressed Buttons and two-fifths of The Faint) with help from Derek Presnall of Icky Blossoms.

Some of the guests came dressed to support the zombie geishas, and others showed up in their Friday night best. As the DJs winded down their set, Black Jonny Quest of Midtown Marauders took stage to announce Harouki Zombi, but the thing is, you never know what you’re going to get at a Harouki show.

I’ve come to realize that it’s not a Harouki Zombi show unless you get covered in red paint and glitter, and every so often whipped cream. The geishas took stage and their lady zombies followed them with an in-the-crowd performance. Crowd participation was not an option Friday night, and if you didn’t know what you were getting into, you do now as you try to get it off your clothes.
