My involvement with Hear Nebraska started at the Sydney in Benson, Nebraska. It was at a packed Icky Blossoms show. I had happened to show up with my camera and some other fellows were there shooting video. They asked me to help out, and without hesitation, I obliged.

After the show was over, I recognized Andy Norman from Love Drunk and Hear Nebraska. I approached him and asked him what Hear Nebraska was truly about. My conversation with him convinced me that I wanted to do whatever it took to help promote Nebraska’s art community to a national audience. From that night on, I have been attending shows, interviewing artists and forming lasting relationships that will continue to grow.

Along with meeting some great people, I’ve learned vital skills that will help my progress as an aspiring photographer, videographer and cinematographer. I will admit that before Hear Nebraska, I had never ever edited a live video of a performance. I was kind of thrown into the ring when it came to editing videos for the band WHY? The experience was well worth it, and the videos were shared through their social media channels, which racked up a good amount of views. It made me proud to say I helped put that together.

The great part about Hear Nebraska is that it’s a family of awesome people who are there to help you along the way. If you need advice on how to direct a video, edit a photo or need some suggestions on story ideas, they are there to back you. Everybody involved is in it for the greater good.

The past 169 days since I joined the Hear Nebraska family have been exciting, challenging and fulfilling in so many ways that I can’t describe them in words. If you have a passion for music, this is clearly the internship for you.

RECOMMENDATION

I admire Chevy Anderson's courage. From his immediate acceptance into our community of videographers to his willingness to accomplish assignments he had never seen the likes of, Chevy is fearless as a multimedia producer.

In this increasingly connected world, Chevy has always been a great communicator. He takes on both long-term projects and last-minute shoots. I always enjoy talking shop with Chevy, too, since his knowledge of photography and editing has quickly outgrown mine over the course of a few months. I've no doubt learned more from him as he has from successfully carrying out an internship with Hear Nebraska.

As Chevy continues his fruitful career as a photographer, videographer and cinematographer, I recommend him to any media organization or any business seeking a strong multimedia producer. As always, I'm proud to say he is just one of the more than 15 Hear Nebraska interns who have enjoyed their time while working hard. Join him by applying for our spring internships via the information below:
