BOTH and Black Jonny Quest at Urban Outfitters | Photo Essay

Customers entered Urban Outfitters around 6 p.m. on March's third Thursday with the plan of finding a new pair pants, but ended up staying for the up-and-coming Omaha rappers, Black Jonny Quest and Scky Rei + INFNTLP.

Fans of free pizza, free beer and free music perused the store to admire art and services from other local businesses. Then, these fans lined the staircases and positioned themselves to watch the live music.

Black Jonny Quest hyped up the crowd by spitting rhymes about the 402 and Ron Burgundy. The energy was palpable, as Quest bounced around pop culture references, including a quote from Billy Madison.

Both — Scky Rei + INFNTLP — ended the night by displaying their lyrical work through tracks off their upcoming self-titled album, to be released this weekend. The crowd bobbed and weaved while the beats and rhymes nearly possessed the bodies of Scky Rei and INFNTLP.

All in all, it was a great start to the “UO x HN: First Thursday Series.” Make sure to mark your calendars for May 1. The series will continue with music from the Twinsmith and See Through Dresses, free bike tune-ups from Green Street, art by Christopher Couse, jewelry by Ashes & Cole and, of course, free beer and pizza.
