All Young Girls Are Machine Guns | X-Rated Podcast

By Hilary Stohs-Krause

In her own words, Omaha ukulele player and singer-songwriter Rebecca Lowry makes nerdy, precious, happy, quiet, experimental, dangerous, relaxing, communal and schmoopy music as the heart of All Young Girls Are Machine Guns. Rounding out the band are Travis Sing on ukulele bass, Scott “Zip” Zimmerman on drums and Kaitlyn Filippini on violin.

Thirty-year-old Lowry has been nominated for several Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards, including Best New Artist, and she joined me in the 89.3FM KZUM studio in Lincoln recently for an interview and live performance. Listen to the podcast below to hear about why she thinks more women are picking up instruments, get the dish on her debut album and learn why she’s so connected to social media.

Contact Lowry via email to get a copy of her debut album, "The Secret Attic Recordings."
