Though the bar has been open less than five years, The Waiting Room has quickly become the music anchor of Benson. Owners Jim Johnson and Marc Leibowitz (of One Percent Productions) opened The Waiting Room in 2007 and the bar has already underwent a major remodeling. The large stage almost ensures every person can get a clean view of bands and artists like The Psychedelic Furs, …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, Ghostface Killah, The Faint, and Beach House.
While The Waiting Room is primarily a music venue, it's also a fully-functioning bar as it's open seven days a week, with usually five of those days featuring a live band. Dominated by black tabletops and stools, exposed brick, grey walls with high-end liquor displayed on wood and glass shelves, The Waiting Room combines sophistication with enough low-key charm to host free music-themed movie nights and even a few pinball machines to bide the time until the next band sets up.
