The Tijuana Gigolos started playing together in 2001. The brain child of Marty Steinhausen, lead guitarist and vocals, the band took off along with Dave Robel on drums and Tony Meza on percussion and vocals. They started practicing in Marty's basement before having a name. After multiple practices and the consumption of multiple beers and shots of Patron (tequila) they came up with the name - The Tijuana Gigolos. With the addition of Jeff Boehmer on bass and occasional lead guitar and Tom Harvill on the keys, they started playing gigs. Playing almost exclusively original music, they started attracting fans. Having the advantage of living in the same town as the legendary, nationally-known Zoo Bar, they had the opportunity to open for and play with national acts such as: Billy Bacon and The Forbidden Pigs, The Hacienda Brothers, The Blazers, Los Super Vatos and many more. They released their first CD, "Do Ya' Wanna Go" in May of 2005. The band released their latest CD "Laid to Waste" on June 8th 2007. For booking send us a message.
Performing with: Shithook
Shithook is a band with no singer, and they've been singing the hits every Thursday night at Duffy's for the past 18 years. Who does their vocals? Whoever wants to. Shithook is a live karaoke band.
Shithook started doing live karaoke at Duffy's about 18 years ago, but that isn't how their music career started.
"Duffy's used to have a booking guy named Dave Rabe about 18 years ago," said Phil Shoemaker, guitarist and backup singer for Shithook. "MTV was doing their ‘Unplugged' thing at the time where they would have bands do acoustic sets, so Duffy's decided to have an acoustic night. Our band went down to play and it wound up we would back up a lot of people at the acoustic night. When that died, we started doing the same thing, but electric, and live karaoke with Shithook was born."
And the band has been doing it ever since. Shithook's library of songs has become intensive over the past 18 years, even though it's mostly classic rock. But that's no problem for the band, because classic rock is what the people want.
