Boots mean family.

After a wild Sunday night at the Gerardo Meza household that lasted until 5 a.m., Frontier Ruckus' Matthew Milia composed a wild getup that needed to be complemented. And so, Meza — a Lincoln musician and artist also in The Mezcal Brothers — gave him boots, thus consummating the continuing relationship Milia's Michigan band has had with Nebraska.

Which isn't to say the music was made for walking. From Meza's dusty folktales, which wake up in a field east of Dalton to Skypiper's buoyant but strong melodies to close the night, O'Leaver's on Monday made for a show worth planting your feet.

And while Nebraska music is our bread and butter, it helps to have Michigan's mitten to hold the pan of Nebraska. We hope to welcome Frontier Ruckus back again soon as we keep spreading the good word of the good life.
