The young members of Lightning Bug caught my ear opening for Cursive, mixing alternative rock, with indie sensibilities, smooth jazzy basslines, and post-rock breakdowns. While getting to know a few band members before the show, I was struck how much music was a part of their lives. Singer David Moore teaches guitar lessons at his family's music store and was telling me about jamming with his dad. Bassist Keith Rodger was overflowing with his love for the local music scene. Rodger runs a local music blog and also moonlights as a DJ (he's opened for legendary Peanut Butter Wolf).

I wanted to catch their musings on tape but before we really started the interview, we got interrupted. Enjoy!
