“My Love Won’t Wait” by Two Gallants | HN Live Video

With his four silver fingertips, Two Gallants' Adam Stephens picks his six strings as reflexively as tying his shoes while crooning the kind of stories you might hear from a door-to-door salesman — five scotches deep. Drummer Tyson Vogel smashes a tantrum into his set, as if he's aiming his impact on the Slowdown stage beneath it.

But though the San Francisco musicians' dark new ATO Records album, The Bloom and the Blight, has more thrash and crash than they produced on two previous records on the Omaha venue's mothership, Saddle Creek Records, the duo lifted the local crowd Oct. 6 with a set full of lilting harmony and light, "it's nice to be home"-style banter.

At one point, the crowd even lifted Vogel as he shed his sticks and hopped into their midst.

With five cameras on stage and off, we filmed the band's second song of the evening (the third on the new record) — "My Love Won't Wait." While the audio feed from the sound board wound up over-modulated, our live mic picked up a serviceable mix that suffices to support the impassioned visual performance. Watch it here.
