Life, Music, and Mystics
by Kris Lager
As I hopefully grow older and wiser, and as I expand my awareness and consciousness; I understand music is all about being in the present, and surrendering yourself to the moment. I believe in order to find that emotional apex through sound you must be aware of your fellow music makers, yourself, and the listener at all times.
Music is my destiny, and to be able to express and convey my emotions through sound is my life's work. Music is in all of us, it connects us together. There's a rhythm to everything, heartbeats, breathes, it's all an organic cycle in which we have no control over. Our job is to feel it, recognize it, and then let it go.
Just as in music and in life there's tension and release, push and pull, give and take, and it is within these laws of nature I strive to understand the natural rhythms of life. I want to put them into songs and open up my world to the listener. Create a musical bubble we can swim and dance inside of for as long as we are willing and able to.
Together we can lose ourselves, break down our egos, and grab ahold of that fleeting moment of energy before this so called reality bursts back into our disillusioned and hyperactive minds. Music is a place where I forget I even exist; I forget I hurt, I forget my mortality, and question nothing, because in that moment of purity and essence your eardrums shake against your brain.
Your feet tap in time, you become weightless, and the world finally makes sense. Together, our primal need for communication and understanding will perpetuate art and music, long past this corporate and conglomerate society we currently occupy. Long before any motivations such as money and fame people told stories through songs, shared family rhythms, and tribal messages of life, love, and the human condition.
Music such as life is all about motivations, the mystics will have their day, and our voices will be heard. There is a message! I'll tend the light in the darkest of hours. So smile and dance with me laugh and cry with me. Sing and Dance! Let’s boil it down to the bare essentials and filter out the sediment. It's time. NOW's the TIME! We must listen to each other...
