Two outstanding songwriters play together tonight at the Slowdown. Here's a quick "why you should care":
Franz Nicolay is best known for his stint in Brooklyn rockers The Hold Steady and punk orchestra World/Inferno Friendship Society. He spent last summer touring with Against Me!. And he has a fancy mustache. Watch him play "The Ballad of Hollis Wadsworth Mason Jr." in this Brixton Sessions video.
One of "the best living songwriters," according to NPR's Robin Hilton ("All Songs Considered"), David Dondero writes clever songs whose imagery sticks. He influenced Conor Oberst (and is on Team Love Records) — he spoke with us recently about his Nebraska connections. Watch him play the song "This Guitar" in Austin under the "super moon."
