“Everything is Good” by Eli Mardock | Song Premiere

by Steven Ashford

Eli Mardock, the ex-Eagle Seagull frontman, has disbanded from his day-roost to embark on a journey in which he explores the dark and euphoric boundaries within his songwriting. Mardock recorded and produced his first solo record, Everything Happens for the First Time, in various homes in Boston, Seattle, Omaha and Lincoln in the past two years. The final product was mixed by Justin Gerrish (Vampire Weekend, The Strokes) in Brooklyn.

Set to release in 2012, Everything Happens… is Mardock’s first attempt at defining his own subculture.

To get a sample taste of what’s to come, stream three tracks above or download Mardock’s new song, “Everything is Good,” which starts out like a lackadaisical incline up a ceremonial mountain slope that peaks at the top with the chorus greeting you like a circus parade in some sort of eerie dreamland. It’s a treat.
