Beginning tonight, Omaha band Cursive begins a three-week residency at hometown venue The Waiting Room Lounge.

The band will play the first three Thursdays of the month, with alternating, band-selected openers for each show. Tickets for individual nights are available for $12, as well as a three-show pass for $30.

Cursive guitarist Ted Stevens said in selecting opening bands they found bands that they liked and who fit the shows’ aesthetic well. These include Lightning Bug and InDreama tonight, Criteria and David Bazan on Dec. 12, and Ladyfinger and Ted Stevens Unknown Project on Dec. 19.

Each show’s audio will be recorded — The Waiting Room’s recording system is part of the reason they’re playing there, Stevens said — though the band does not have definitive plans for the recording.

“If it sounds good, and everyone’s happy, we’ll consider future plans for some kind of release,” Stevens said.

He also said Cursive expects another tour late next year.
