The Bears of Blue River at Maneater Mansion | Photo Essay

Maneater Mansion? Beware, people: The name holds true. Located in the heart of Benson, these ladies put together their first house show this past Friday. I walked in, and for once, the guys were outnumbered. Something I wouldn’t mind getting used to.

It’s only right that a first-time performer got her start at the Mansion. Britta Tollefsrud started the night warning everyone that many of her songs she had written that day. After settling down a bit, she went away into another world with her guitar.

Sam Martin of Capgun Coup accompanied by Noah Kohll on drums, treated the crowd to some of his solo tunes as well. He hopes to have a record out soon, put together by the guys down at Make Believe Records.

Having seen The Bears of Blue River for the second night in a row, I have to say I enjoyed their performance at the Mansion slightly better. The intimate setting pushed their set to another level. I still have their song, "Boy Toy," stuck in my head. Go give these guys and gal a listen.
